Running services locally on the subnet, ^ masks from dirty and evil web (not much for the end-user but admins?)
are there services set up on the intranet that aren't available elsewhere?
I have to agree (certain degree). Sometimes I'm shoved for using write(1) or talk(1) because I could have pinged on IRC. There are some services better run locally, game server for instance. At this point most of the services listed on tildeverse are free to public which *may change in future till then I cannot find a solid reason.
In the end, it's fun making tilde bubble :)
