The day's just getting started, but I'm at a cabin on a lake with some friends that we've rented for the weekend. Looks like we've still got some summer-like weather ahead too!

I got my whole family, my parents, sister and her boyfriend in a van, 1/3rd of them coming from the UK, the second half coming from the Black Sea in Bulgaria, and we headed off for a 7-hour drive and a long weekend in Greece.

Greetings, tildeverse!
I'm headed to a college football game this afternoon. Neither team is my own, but I enjoy the college game a whole lot more than the NFL. Better atmosphere, more creative play calling. College football isn't always pretty, yet that's part of what makes it fun.

Almost 6pm here, I finished my 4th roll of film of the week. I’m going to spend the end of the evening developing them before scanning them tomorrow :)

I just finished sewing an internal reinforcement of sorts into a fez that I've had kicking around for several years at this point; I knitted and felted it from maroon wool yarn but never got around to finishing it. I made a tassel for it the other day and I'll be wearing it to a party tonight (it's part of the suggested dress code.)
I need to get hold of some buckram to make a proper, slightly stiffer inner form, but the interfacing I had on hand should suffice for a night.

I got off a plane in Paris. I wandered around until my room was ready and slept the rest of the day. I just made it back out. The night is beautiful and warm.

I deleted all my tweets (thought I had done it awhile back but apparently the tool didn't get all the way through them) and made an Instant Pot cheesecake since everybody has told me that's the way I need to make them. It's currently chilling so we'll see.
I re-chose all the items in several drawers (i.e., emptied them out, handled/examined everything, and sorted it into keep/donate/discard piles). This always feels good, and is my default "do something productive" task if I don't have anything specific to do.
Did my laundry.
Remixed a song for an old friend in Australia.
Right now I'm halfway through trying to replace the rechargeable battery in an old cordless razor. Works great except battery is 5 years old... hopefully can just replace the battery!
Played a bunch of What the Golf? <-- amazing game!

Spent the morning walking the dog, drove to drop off recycling, went thrifting, and now vicariously listening to my wife watching unbelievable.
That last thing is making me incredibly mad, frustrating and helpless at the same time.

Ate breakfast, then had half a doughnut from our local bakery. Texted parents.
Then set up a tent in the Union Square-area of Somerville.
History polyfill: Somerville is where marshmallow Fluff was invented. Every year for the last 14 they celebrate this with the What The Fluff? festival. It is a one-day, four-hour celebration which is just about enough celebration for such a thing.
Our second year attending/vending. I staffed the tent and sold my own buttons/pins, plus my wife’s cards, screen prints, pennants while she ran a screen printing demo for a local maker space. Saw friends, dogs, children.
Packed up, stopped at said maker space, came home, ate organic frozen pizza and had a beer. Then desserts. Did the dishes.
Wrote this email. Now, perhaps, to quote Tor Johnson: time for go to bed.
I mixed together about 900 grams of hummus so that I have stuff for breakfast, and I am currently in the midst of finishing up a school report on language models (the bag-of-words-model https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bag-of-words_model is quite intuitive and cool) for the last class I need to pass in order to get my MSc in CS (sooooon!).
This is a quite nice review for those who are interested: Doing Things With Words https://nbviewer.jupyter.org/url/norvig.com/ipython/How%20to%20Do%20Things%20with%20Words.ipynbby Peter Norvig http://norvig.com/.

The Highlights for me from 9/21/2019:
Day 2 helping my dad get his firewood in. Got it done, yay!!
Bought new boots. The instant I got them both on and stood up I could feel the difference tingle up my spine. Not like Spidey-sense, just good arch support!

Went to an event I didn't really feel like but it's one day a year to show up to this thing for this guy at work and it's fine I guess. Then later, went to a punk show that started at 11pm (actually started closer to 11:30) in a town about an hour from where I live despite having to get up early-ish in the morning because there were going to be secret surprise guests and I had a feeling that the surprise guests would be one of my favorite bands and it turned out that it was only one of the guys from that band and they didn't play any of those songs but there were a bunch of other people from other bands and they played a lot of covers and it was kind of the ready player one of punk shows and also one of the kids from stranger things was there and sang a song so that was pretty surprising! Also I showed up early enough to get in the front row and it was cool to be able to see the band for a change. Ended up getting to bed around 3am and woke up at 7 well prepared for the stuff I had to do because I am both Not Old Yet and also a Responsible Adult.

Ansiblized my server.
It's proving very helpful already, I like having reproducible systems!!! It'll make it much easier when I compartmentalize everything.
today i wrote a guide to using rss for people who've never heard of it
