Share a great birthday experience.
That year it snowed 3’ in Chicago and shut down the entire city for a week? Yeah, that was
my 29th birthday.
I interviewed at a job all day and, on my way home, found a text from my partner that the
place we were gonna go was shut down because blizzard. So we decided to go to our corner
pub instead. I got what ended up being the last Blue Line train outbound, got to the pub,
and… got snowed in. Then the staff found out it was my birthday, and kept serving me
60-year-old whiskey for free while they dug out the place.
On our way home, severely drunk of course, I got tackled from behind with someone in a
viking costume and was promptly whitewashed, not knowing that a neighborhood-wide snowball
fight was hastily scheduled at the park that I was trying to walk through.
We woke up the next day snowed into our home, and just ate crock pot food for a couple of
days while the city dug itself out.
