I hope everybody is faring well through the uncertainty of this COVID-19
pandemic. If you're stuck at home and looking for something fun and new

hello tilde friends!
i'm planning another move of the tilde.team vm (again, sorry) to a new
server that i'm renting at OVH. i'm not 100% sure what day i'll be doing
it, but it will need to happen before january 29 when the current
server lease expires.
i'm expecting the migration to go much smoother than before, as
everything now lives inside a vm that can easily be transferred as a
single-file backup archive, but it will still likely take a couple hours
since i'll need to first shut down the vm to ensure backup consistency,
then transfer it over. besides moving the vm itself, the ipv4 addresses
will also need to be transferred over to the new server and i'm not sure
how long that will take.
affected services will include:
- tilde.team shell accounts, email, websites
- tildeverse.org site and services
- tilde.zone (and pleroma)
- these mailing lists
(don't worry, pending mail will get delivered once we're back up)
the earliest i'll be doing this migration is this weekend and i'll send
a follow-up message to this thread and on irc before taking the vm down.
cheers and happy holidays!

hello tilders,
i've been investigating the dkim/dmarc settings for our mailman3
instance and have finally figured out that in order to stop breaking the
original dkim signatures, we'll need to stop adding the list footer to
mails and remove the [listname] prefix from the subject.
i'm trying that out here on the meta list and we'll see how that works
out.
anyone have any strong feelings one way or the other?
it should be pretty trivial to add mailing list filtering to your
client:
header List-Id contains <listname>.lists.tildeverse.org
OR
to/cc contains <listname>@lists.tildeverse.org
holler if you have any thoughts

Hey all
Thought I'd make a little corner on the tildeverse IRC for talkin' about mental
health stuff; a place to not be judged and so jess doesn't spaff up the main
channel with depression.
Mild safe space rules apply (be kind, be careful with harsh topics, what happens
in the channel stays in the channel)
you are loved

Hello tildeverse peoples,
Over the last two weeks I've been developing a homegrown
twtxt registry server. I'm happy to announce that it's now
running publicly:
https://twtxt.tilde.institute
Instructions are available on the main page of the registry,
including how to add your own data to the registry using curl.
If you're not familiar with twtxt, it's a decentralized
microblogging platform "for hackers". You can install the client
via pip (pip install twtxt), and then after setting it up, issue:
$ twtxt follow institute https://twtxt.tilde.institute/api/plain/tweets
To add the registry data to your personal 'timeline'. Don't forget
to add your own info to the registry to help it grow! Your statuses
will be periodically scraped and viewable from the registry server.
This allows many users' statuses to be available from a single
location.
Note: the twtxt client may complain when 'following' the registry.
It's OK, it'll still work.

Since that phlog post the other day provoked some discussion in the tildeverse
irc, and since jan6 created the channel as a meme, #furry is the place for
discussing furry stuff now (so it won't bug anyone in #meta).
Feel free to check it out if you like!
Hello everyone,
Apologies for the hiccups with the crawl server this evening if you
were trying to play a game. I migrated the home directory to a
larger volume after monitoring the disk space usage for a while.
Everything should be working OK now.
