Howdy all from roasty Texas!
I'd just like to share some news. The UUCP network hasn't died, I'm still doing tons, including writing scripts to make Tier 1 provisioning more intuitive. I'm also writing scripts to get leaf nodes on the network easily. But...
I am doing this as a one man project, and I need help. This is a de- centralized effort and an open source project.
I'm looking for someone who is a wizard with make files.
Lately I've really been inspired by NIS (Network Information Service). It works via makefiles and sqlite databases, I'd like to do something similar with UUCP, so someone just needs to set their nodename and endpoint url, and the make file does the rest. The sqlite database gets replicated via UUCP to all the other tier1 nodes.
Thoughts, ideas?
