I first heard about it back at the beginning when it got MetaFilter'd but I missed the boat on getting an invite and pretty much forgot about it. And then a few days ago I fell down a Wikipedia hole about Gemini, and that prompted my memory of "oh yeah, tilde servers are a cool thing I should look at."
