Hi everyone, I'm Andy Chase (not the one who's the guitarist for Ivy, though.) AKA ~moondog8 here. I'm usonian on a lot of web sites, though I stopped using that handle for new accounts a few years ago.
I grew up hacking on Commodore 64 BASIC (and taught myself a wee bit of assembly by the time I got to high school) and when we got a modem, I was on Quantum Link as 'Moondog8' and various BBSes in the greater Worcester, Massachusetts area in the late 1980s/early 90s, also as Moondog. Getting a tilde account seemed like a good time to bring the handle back.
I am having a lot of mid-1990s feels as I type this in Alpine, and read your web pages in Lynx like I used to, when I would dial into the RIT mainframe with my Amiga and use Lynx from the terminal. I've begun cobbling together a hand-coded junk drawer sort web site at https://tilde.club/~moondog8, which is also bringing back a lot of pleasant memories.
These days I'm a web developer of no particular distinction; if anyone recognizes or remembers me for anything it might be a couple of now-quaint tutorials I wrote for Webmonkey circa 2000, or a couple of chapters I wrote for "PHP4 Multimedia Programming" just before Wrox Press imploded. (Glad I took the cash advance!) These days I spent my off hours on analog pursuits: 19th and early 20th century banjo music, sewing, and printmaking.
Happy to be here, and sorry for the wall of text!
-Andy
