Okay, stick with me. I’m here to talk about the 1979-1984 TV series “Real People” which is available streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Imagine This American Life as a TV show co-hosted by Fred Willard. It’s a slice of life from a bygone era, combining studio segments with short films produced in the field.

Just go watch the first episode and you’ll get the idea. There’s a story about a truck driver who is — you’ll never believe this — a woman! Golly! And a TV station in a small town run by a cute little old couple.

The second episode features a story about — what? Lady weight lifters? That’s crazy! And one old man’s quest to get gambling out of Nevada. And a humorous political rant about wasteful spending in Congress. Oh, the more things change.

But what ties it all together and makes it beautiful is the innocence of a time when everyone wasn’t constantly aware that at any moment they may be on camera. There’s a different sensibility in the mannerisms, the fashion, the style, the way people present themselves. It just feels so pure.

Anyway… yeah, so that’s media I enjoy. I’m gonna go watch The Good Place now.

Further to the prompt: The Good Place The Podcast is good media, without
which I confess that I would not have known it was back because while I
knew it was premiering in September, in my head it is still the first
week of September or so *checks temperature* or maybe the last week of
August, I dunno.
