Hello, friends. I'm ~rfreebern.

Last week while visiting San Francisco, I met up with a woman who I first met on Usenet circa 1996. We chatted there and on IRC for years and then lost touch when the community drifted apart. This summer we randomly found each other on Twitter, and when I needed to fly out to CA for work we made plans and got drinks. The conversation was remarkable and unexpected and full of nostalgia and surprisingly intense emotions.

tilde.club has always been something remarkable and unexpected that stirs up similar feelings. Usenet and IRC in the 90s were highly formative for me and I enjoy reliving them, even to such a small degree.

Thank you all for being part of this.
