Pi-Star and MMDVM

I'm currently living somewhere without a DMR repeater, and most hotspots are a bit out of my price range. Does anyone here have any experience with using a cheap ebay MMDVM as a DMR hotspot? I've linked the one I'm looking at below. I've already got raspberry pis sitting around that I could use with it.
